The back of the chair is wide and can easily accommodate my husband who is 6’2″ for myself I prefer to put a cushion to give me more support. Putting this chair together is a bit like origami. However, once assembled it is sturdy and comfortable. We bought this for our son’s first apartment – he is 6’4″ and weighs approx. 240lbs. I was worried he would not be comfortable or the chair would be too flimsy. It is not. The leather is quite thick and a bit stiff, but like any leather product I believe it will get softer and better over time. This was a nice buy for the $$.
